Dagan Books, Ltd., is a not-for-profit publisher of weird, wicked, beautiful, and brilliant books. We publish both print and digital titles, primarily speculative (genre) literature, with an additional emphasis on academic scholarship. As well as the work you will find here, we also publish the anthology series Cthulhurotica, and the short fiction magazine, Lakeside Circus.
We were founded in 2010 by Carrie Cuinn, with help from Don Pizarro. In March 2013, we reorganized as a limited liability company in accordance with state and federal laws. In June 2014, we began the process to become a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation, which is currently underway.
Our Mission Statement
Dagan Books, Ltd., a not-for-profit publisher of speculative fiction, academic non-fiction, and other literary works, fosters readership and appreciation of speculative literature. By identifying, cultivating, and publishing both new and established authors, and selecting authors of unique literary talent (including those under-represented in traditional publishing because of age, race, sexual orientation, gender or gender presentation, or geographic location), Dagan Books, Ltd. brings diverse, high quality, literature to the public. By publishing works of academic non-fiction, offering classes and workshops, appearing at literary events, and presenting a portion of our material online at no charge, Dagan Books, Ltd. educates the reading public about speculative literature and expands scholarship on this subject. Support for this effort comes from the sale of its publications, workshop fees, grant funding, and private donations.
Dagan Books, Ltd. is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code. Upon the dissolution of this organization, assets shall be distributed for one or more exempt purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code, or shall be distributed to the federal government, or to a state or local government, for a public purpose.
