Kickstarter Update: Day 1

In roughly 24 hours, we have (so far) raised $1,036 in our Kickstarter campaign. This is 41% of our initial goal. We have 33 backers, and the average pledge is $31.40.

If we continue at this rate, in a few days we’d have made our funding goal and begun to work toward our stretch goals. That would be, simply, amazing. That we’ve done so well already is astounding – it’s enough to put us on the “Popular This Week” page for not just Fiction, but all of Publishing. That means more people see our project, people we may not have been able to reach otherwise, and that’s great.

Please continue to share our project around. Because we haven’t yet met our initial goal, all of the pledges we’ve received so far could still be lost. Kickstarter doesn’t hand over the funds unless the campaign is successful, so we need to reach $2500 in order to get any of the money at all.

And if we do … we can start to raise money to fund projects that haven’t been completed yet. Projects that will have open submissions, year round. If we can raise enough, we can become a home for speculative fiction novellas – a notoriously hard story size to find a market for – and publish a semi-pro magazine of short, strange, fiction.

First things first, though. Thank you for making yesterday a really good first day.
